March 15. App Trail Update- Well I started hiking around 6am sat and completed the 18 miles by about 2:30. The last six miles were downhill which sounds easy, but when you are goinc from 5000ft to about 1700 you encounter some rocky terrain. Add the heavy rain and it made it challenging. Last night I stayed with chestnut and gentle ben. Chestnut has done four thru hikes and likes to do large mileage days. Gentle Ben is a retired GM for a car dealer and is anxious to get back out tomorrow with the rain gone. Nantahala is Cherokee for Land of the Noon Day Sun. I have a five mile climb out of here tomorrow.

I am posting this on multiple people’s journals. I and my wife are willing to host people who are Thru-hiking the AT. We live in south Knoxville which is like 50 min Apx. from Newfound Gap Rd. If you are wanting to take a zero day or want a place to stay for the evening shot me an e-mail or give me a call at 865-201-2075. We can fix some food, give a shower, wash your clothes, and feed you. Actually, I will be doing that. My wife doesn’t mind going along for the ride though. I hope to Thru-hike one day. But for now I am section hiking. I am 25 yrs old and I go to Johnson Bible College. It would be great if you can help cover costs as you come thru but I really don’t care. I just want to give back and hear some fun stories. Feel free to pass this information along to other Thru-hikers.
God bless you all, I look forward to seeing some people.
