April 2 App Trail - Short day today. We started at the spring mtn shelter and hiked down about three miles to Allen Gap. We had all heard about a couple that opened their house to hikers and feed them well. We arrived to waffles and beef stew and finished with a choc sunday. Of course I had to have a root beer float to wash everything down. It really was great and I hear they fed over 500 hikers last year.
With weather moving in we decided to only push another five miles to the shelter. We did not want to stay on the ridge tonight with weather moving in.
I am told that tomorrow has some great views so I am hoping the weather cooperates.
